O-956 - Clinical Reasoning in the Presence of Vertigo

The purpose of this course is to discuss the assist the manual therapist in differential diagnosis of common vestibular conditions to assist in proper patient management. It will focus on an understanding of anatomy and physiology of the vestibular system in preparation of performing an oculomotor exam. Using the oculomotor exam finding to differentiate between central and peripheral conditions and deciding when to refer to a medical provider for further testing. Clinicians will be exposed to common peripheral vestibular conditions and the most commonly used treatment choices based on current best evidence.

O-957 Reasoning in the Presence of Cardiopulmonary Conditions

This course focuses on cardio-pulmonary conditions and their influence on OMPT.  Participants will be exposed to online learning experiences that will develop their skill and abilities in dealing with patients with cardio-pulmonary conditions – their definitions, causes and management. In particular, participants will develop skills in recognizing patients presenting with cardio-pulmonary conditions, the parameters of presentation, and understanding its effects on the individual physical therapy patient/client evaluation, diagnosis, management and prognosis. Participants will be expected to recognize when a cardio-pulmonary condition is a red flag or needs referral to physicians and specialists and to be able to make management decisions that are in the best interest of the patient/client.

The North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy

The North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy, Inc. (NAIOMT) is a private physical therapist-owned organization dedicated to achieving the highest standards of clinical practice for manual physical therapists.

NAIOMT specializes in a flexible teaching program, which seeks to promote the utilization of safe, effective and efficient manual physical therapy management of musculoskeletal dysfunction.
