How Will NAIOMTβs Fellowship Program Fit My Lifestyle?
NAIOMT fellows are dedicated and hard-working. They’re also busy newlyweds, parents, athletes, coaches, and active community members, achieving professional goals without sacrificing balance.
The NAIOMT Fellowship Program works with your schedule through a combination of in-person and distance OMPT education and advanced clinical mentoring. The program gives you the tools, advanced clinical reasoning, and psychomotor skills to achieve a whole new level of patient satisfaction.
The NAIOMT Fellowship Program is a part-time flexible program that will allow you to balance work and family commitments with no need to relocate. The program includes both face-to-face and guided online learning. We also offer mentoring from experienced, expert, practicing FAAOMPT clinicians to provide you with education and guidance.
How Many Hours Does the Program Require?
The fellowship program consists of a total of 1,200 hours. The average completion of the program is 36 months with a maximum duration of 5 years. The program is broken down into 189 hours of in-person and online NAIOMT core advanced 700-level OMPT education courses, 63 hours of online interactive case management training, approximately 105 hours of project development and directed technique practice, 150 hours of direct 1:1 clinical mentoring: in person and distance mentoring and tutorials with a NAIOMT-approved clinical fellowship instructor, credentialed in OMPT (FAAOMPT or equivalent), and 700 hours of clinical practice supported by faculty and mentors.
When Does the Next Fellowship Cohort Start?
The next Fellowship Cohort begins on June 1, 2025. Applications for this cohort are due by May 1, 2025. If you are considering applying to our Fellowship Program, the admissions requirements include: being a physical therapist licensed to practice in the United States, 2000 hours of orthopedic physical therapy clinical experience, and an existing OMPT certification OR demonstrated substantial progress towards, OR graduation from an ABTRFE approved residency program.
