NAIOMT COMT-3: Thoracic Spine

This is the third course in a series of 5 courses in the COMT certification.

This course utilizes case-based instruction to illustrate thoracic Spine and Rib-Cage conditions, and their advanced neurophysiological movement assessment. Coursework will focus on reason-based development of individualized examinations aimed at patient/client classification into: management of an initial diagnosis, progression to a specific neurophysiological movement examination, symptom/intervention/rule-based classification groupings, or referral to another health-care provider. Procedural interventions will include education, manual therapy techniques (including manipulation), and individualized neuromuscular rehabilitation prescription, with the goal of restoring normal function and preventing disability.

Chris Gray

Chris received his BS degree in Kinesiology in 1998 and his MPT in 2001 from CSU Fresno. Chris was certified in Strength and Conditioning through the NSCA in 2002. After completing a long-term Maitland-based training program, Chris achieved his OCS status in 2005. He then went on to complete his t-DPT in 2010 through the University of St. Augustine, and concurrently earned his certification in manual therapy (MTC). Dr. Gray completed another long-term training program in 2019 through the Institute of Manipulative Physiotherapy and Clinical Training (IMPACT). He completed the Orthopedic Manual Fellowship with IMPACT in 2021. Over his 23-year career, Chris has taken an eclectic array of professional development coursework which included training into PNF techniques, pain neuroscience, dry needling, spine and extremity manipulation, and S&C coursework. Chris is a level-2 Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute and regularly works with patients to help them return to the golf course. Chris has achieved certification through two separate dry needling training platforms. He has also certified in the FMS and SFMA level 1 programs. He resides near Indianapolis, Indiana with his better half, Kim. They have two kids that attend Purdue University. He enjoys golfing with friends and sitting on his back porch in the evenings. He has a particular clinical interest in complex spine cases and neuromuscular re-education interventions to support his manual techniques.
