NAIOMT COMT-3: Thoracic Spine

This is the third course in a series of 5 courses in the COMT certification.

This course utilizes case-based instruction to illustrate thoracic Spine and Rib-Cage conditions, and their advanced neurophysiological movement assessment. Coursework will focus on reason-based development of individualized examinations aimed at patient/client classification into: management of an initial diagnosis, progression to a specific neurophysiological movement examination, symptom/intervention/rule-based classification groupings, or referral to another health-care provider. Procedural interventions will include education, manual therapy techniques (including manipulation), and individualized neuromuscular rehabilitation prescription, with the goal of restoring normal function and preventing disability.

Michael Lucido

Dr. Lucido is a 1985 graduate from of University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas with a bachelor’s of science degree in physical therapy and received his transitional doctorate in physical therapy from A.T. Still’s University in Mesa, AZ in 2011. Michael has over 37 years of orthopedic/musculoskeletal physical therapy experience with clinical interest and specialization in spinal/quadrant dysfunction. His early instructors in manual therapy were Robin McKenzie, Freddie Kaltenborn, Erl Pettman, Cliff Fowler and Jim Meadows. Michael has a passion for teaching post-professionally to physical therapist, occupational therapist and primary care physicians. He serves NAIOMT as instructor/examiner and is a member of the Board of Directors. Michael is board certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a Fellow in American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapy under the auspices of ACOMPTE & ABTREFE. Michael is presently employed as senior physical therapist and education coordinator with by Baylor Scott & White Outpatient Services in Dallas/Ft. Worth. He is married and has three children and two grandchildren and lives in Dallas, TX.
