Certified Orthopedic Musculoskeletal Therapist — Your Path to Clinical Excellence
COMT (Certified Orthopedic Musculoskeletal Therapist) Certification consists of 5 courses (105 hours) and an asynchronous assessment exam. Each course is 21 hours with 14 hours in-person + 7 hours of asynchronous online course work.
There are no prerequisites for the COMT 1-5 courses, so they can be taken in any order that fits your schedule. All 5 courses need to be complete including the required online coursework to be eligible to take the assessment exam.
Complete all five courses in any order to become eligible for the assessment exam
Lumbopelvic spine assessment, treatment techniques, and clinical reasoning for lower quadrant movement impairments.
Cervicothoracic spine management, upper quadrant movement analysis, and manual therapy techniques.
Thoracic spine and rib cage assessment, treatment approaches for upper and lower quadrant integration.
Upper extremity evaluation and treatment, relationship to cervicothoracic spine, clinical reasoning.
Lower extremity assessment and management, relationship to lumbopelvic region, return to function.
Complete your certification by passing the asynchronous assessment exam after finishing all five COMT courses.

The NAIOMT COMT Certification requires the completion of all COMT 1-5 courses including the online coursework associated with each course and the Assessment Exam.
This exam is asynchronous and involves completing a series of modules. You will also be required to upload short videos demonstrating scanning exams, assessments and techniques.
